Burglin' Gnomes

For the first time in a long time I headed onto the computer last night to catch up with a few friends.

Initially, I was only going to hang out with them on Discord and have a chat, but then one of them sent me a game on steam and told me to download it.

Burgalering Gnomes

It is such a weird game.

Upon first joining the lobby we are in the clouds, surrounded by psychedelic visuals, such as giant mushrooms, a weird face with his mouth open and tongue sticking out.

When I initially joined, I was in its mouth and was spat out into our little camp. Eventually other members who joined were also spat into existence.

The host loaded up the level, and we arrived outside a house and had a list of tasks we had to accomplish.

The first mission was pretty easy (or so I thought) we had to steal a glass jar, open a window, open a cabinet.

It was a good easy-going mission to get used to the mechanics of the game. For the most part, I was following the others around and trying to figure out what to do.

I got chased (and stung by bees) then made it inside where I was sucked into a rumba hoover, but the scariest thing was yet to come.

The man who owned the house arrived, a towering giant like something out of Attack on Titan, I tried to run, but he was too fast. He picked me up, threw me into his toilet and flushed me back outside to the garden.

It was a scary ordeal, but I was determined, so I headed back inside for some more pilfering.

This time round, he wasnt joking, he had a gun and shot me on sight. Which blew me to bits, and kind of reminded of Fallout for the level of visceral gore involved.

Luckily, one of the lads was able to revive me. We eventually finished the mission.

Round Two

The next level was much harder, the tasks were a bit more complicated and it seemed like the home-owner was ready for us immediately with his gun at hand.

Also, he home was guarded by a bore, who charged me on sight, and flung me halfway across the map... I tell you, life isn't easy for a Gnome.

We completed that mission eventually and ended up back in the pre-level lobby in the sky.

It is a lot of fun, especially with friends. I didn't know what to expect exactly which potentially heightened the fun.

I think next time I'll have a drink while playing. Last night, the lads were drinking a few beers, but sadly I was left with a dry throat.

To be honest, though, even without drink the game is so fun to play and I'm looking forward to getting a bit further into it.
