a lens has two surfaces it has two surface of curvature.The line joining the centres of culvature of two surfaces is the principle axis of a lens.It passes through the middle of the lens.Radii of culvature of the two surfaces of a lens may not be equal.A point in the middle of a lens on the principle axis is the centre of the lens or optical centre of the lens.
