Situation in the intertidal zone

When the tide recedes, the surface of the seashore is exposed and reveals everything that was under the water. One thing that first attracts attention is the barnacle, a marine animal that has shells that are very firmly attached to rocks.

The question is, how can these animals survive in the absence of water. It turns out, they are animals that live in shallow waters and intertidal zones that are highly adapted to the absence of water. When submerged in seawater, they come out to eat, but what you might see at low tide is that they have plates to plug the holes in their watertight shells, and that can also protect them from predation.

Apart from them, there were also limpets, sea snails which have amazing conical shells and are capable of causing bio-erosion on rock surfaces.

During low tide, sea water is mixed with land water so it looks brackish. However, fish catchers will still spread their nets to trap and confine fish.
