Blade Runner SFX Project: Dev Diary #1

Production is underway on a very cool new Blade Runner fan project. The short film will be a series of special effects shots of the original spinner flying through the futuristic dystopian city of L.A. 2019. We are thrilled to be utilizing miniatures and rear projection for this. Our vision for this is very ambitious considering the limited budget, but thankfully, we are very experienced in working within constraints. We've been very passionate special effects artist and have studied the making of the 1984 Blade Runner since childhood. This will be a test of every skill and technique we've practiced up till now. The shots have been thoroughly planned with painstaking amounts of detail and we are now entering the phase 2 of production: creating a miniature spinner! We've finished airbrushing the base model and are about to begin the more intricate paint job.

After that, we'll be rigging 3mm LED strobe lights onto the spinner to cast proper lighting and reflections onto the vehicle.

We are extremely excited to be doing this project and our goal is to achieve the highest quality imagery possible. Stay tuned here for frequent updates and, please, look forward to it!!
