My grandparents' house. What I miss most about my childhood.
Hello, friends!
It is my pleasure to share in this community, and today I am joining in on the weekend topics by answering the question: What do you miss most about your childhood, and why?
Without a doubt, my childhood was one of the best times of my life. If you asked me to describe it today, I could do so with one word: “HAPPINESS.”
What I miss most about my childhood is hearing this phrase: “Mom, we're going to the other house!”
This phrase was heard every day starting at six in the afternoon, an appointment that could not be missed. After doing our homework and having dinner, we would run out to play with our cousins who lived in my paternal grandparents' house, which was next door. We would have about two hours or more of fun. In those days, we didn't have tablets or cell phones, but we had so much fun playing and running around the yard.
I remember some of the names of the games: El repollito, hide and seek, cops and robbers, sea snake, La Candelita, Doña Ana, among many others. But what fills me with nostalgia the most is the camaraderie or bond that existed between us. We grew up together like siblings; then, as is normal, we each grew up and went our separate ways, but every time we meet or call each other, laughter is guaranteed, even in the most difficult moments.
It was such a simple life, but at the same time full of fun and values such as brotherhood. Without luxuries and without realizing it, we were millionaires. My paternal grandparents' house is still standing, full of wonderful memories, and every time I go back, they come to mind as if it were yesterday. These are the most recent photos of this place that is so important to me.
I hope that someday we can all get together again to share, tell stories or jokes as we usually do, and relive such beautiful moments.
