February running recap and ambitions for March
I had big ambitions for running in February. Even if it is not a particularly good month for running in Oslo, I was planning to get in a lot of runs either on the treadmill, or outside if the conditions were decent. Unfortunately, my plans were sabotaged by a nasty little flu virus that would not give up for two whole weeks. I got three runs in before that struck, and afterwards I carefully ramped up my runs.
In total, the month was pretty lousy. I got in 7 runs, for a total of 57 kilometers. At least it was an improvement over February last year, where I only got in 11 kilometers! Most of them were outside too, which is an improvement from January which was more or less just the threadmill.
I had one workout that I was quite satisfied with. That was 3x 2 km plus 3x 1 km with active rests, plus some warmup and cooldown. That summed up to 13 km. Safe to say I was quite exhausted afterwards.
Ambitions for March
In March I will try to follow a more structured approach than I usually do. Each week Ill try to do
- 2 interval runs, one with short intervals and one with slightly longer intervals.
- 1 long run
- 1 strength workout
- Easy runs any other day when it fits with the rest of my schedule.
Thats the ambition. Lets see how it goes!
Park run
March is off to a good start. I attended my local park run at Tøyen today. My first park run of the year. My performance was so-so, but it was a great workout, and its always inspiring to attend these runs. I love to see all the other people who drag themselves out of bed on Saturday morning to join the run.
On my way home I took a little detour that brought me past these huge wall murals:
