You are a wizard.

Hi, Steemians!

You are a wizard.

Wearing Harry Potter glasses would not change anything, but here I am, wearing these glasses for almost a decade, hoping to see a giant bearded man smash my door and tell me I'm a wizard. The fact is, no such man will ever come to my place. The ugly truth which I am unable to digest is that I am not a wizard, and maybe I never will be.

I am just another middle-class muggle struggling to make the ends meet. It's month end, and like most other middle-class muggles, I am sitting on my bed, having an Aloo Chutney Sandwich from Fresh Menu instead of a 'Mexicali Pizza' or a 'Chelsea Pizza' from Fat Lulu's. While my Instagram stories are filled with pictures of pancakes, waffles, muffins and other dishes, the names of which I cannot even pronounce, I am here, satisfying my hunger with this sandwich.

How's this related to wizards, you ask? Because while a Muggle like me struggles to buy even this extremely reasonable sandwich, the wizards born with a silver spoon in their mouth are doing things they love, calling themselves food bloggers, travelogue writers, fashion bloggers, photographers, Instagram influencers, poets and what not. While it's easy for these wizards made of money to explore their creative side and call themselves whatever they like, irrespective of whether they are creative or not, muggles struggle day in and day out to achieve their goals.

Had the muggles been rolling in money, like the wizards, would they, too, not do the kind of work they like or love to do? Instead of doing something they are coerced to do to fill their tummy?

The fact is, muggles might be as talented as the wizards, or even better than them, but most of the muggles do not have the means to do the things wizards do, and for this very reason, they stick to the things that help them survive.

Aye muggle! So what if you have been unable to do the things you like to do? It's because you didn't have the means to do it. So what if you could not be a photographer? It's just because you didn't have an expensive DSLR camera. So what if you couldn't be a food blogger? It's because you weren't rolling in money to taste the finest dishes served at most of the expensive restaurants. So what if you were unable to be a fashion blogger? You didn't have the money to spend on clothes and fashion accessories. So what if you were unable to be a writer or a poet? You weren't Richie Rich to sit at home and just write. You had to work to survive. So what if you were not able to party like a wizard at an expensive pub or a luxurious lounge last night? Or for that matter, any night? You know what kept you from it.

While the privileged wizards are doing wonders, have you ever considered taking the first step to be a wizard? We might not be great wizards, but we can start with whatever we can and whatever we have. Clicking pictures from your phone? Writing stories and poems on Facebook in your free time? Blogging about fashion with the reasonable dresses and fashion accessories you buy from Sarojini Nagar? Blogging about the dishes you have almost every other day, irrespective of the size of the restaurant or Dhaba? We can try, can't we? We don't need a Hagrid to tell us we are wizards. We need our own selves to do that.
