Hello everyone in the #ladiesofhive community. This is my first time contributing and taking part in the writing competition.

I will admit when I first read the topics, I literally put my phone down and ran away, not very fast, it was more of waddle than a run
And still it was hard to forget the questions. they have been marinating around my mind, so let's tackle one.

Pia Alexa

I have a friend, she's my secret diary.
Pia is the one person I can whisper my secrets to, she knows all of me, my kind self, my meanness, every petty crevice and still she chose to be my friend.

We met when I was eight years old and she was seven, grade two at an all girls Catholic school, we left for the next school together at 15 and our friendship followed a gentle path as we grew up, studies, work, travel, engagements & weddings, we did life together.

When we fought it was always clean, fair and we came back together, forgiveness was always easy . Having her in my corner made life beautiful. She made me braver, she was like a grand oak tree in the middle of a forest, she was never swayed, she followed her own pash and kept on growing.

Her journey took a different turn when cancer rocked our world eight years ago. She fought for two and then it was time for her to leave on the next adventure, one I couldn't follow her on.

Pia Alexa is still that strong oak tree that keeps me rooted and grounded. I have felt her presence during the storms of my life and in the joyous moments.

She is still my secret diary, I whisper those things I won't share with anyone else, she knows what i really really think, she gets my funny, gossipy, unkind self
And still I know despite it she'll choose me to be her friend.
