Why the sky is blue

The sky appears blue because of a phenomenon called Rayleigh scattering. When sunlight enters earth atmosphere, it collides with gas molecules and scatters in all directions. Blue light has a shorter wavelength than other colours in the visible spectrum, so it is scattered easily than other colours. This means that when we look up at the sky, we see more blue colour than any other colours which makes the sky appears blue
