Back in Mabolo Gym , Cebu City to Officiate Basketball Games

Sharing my experienced as referee in summer basketball league in Mabolo, May 10, 2026.

Our commissioner of BAP Lapu-Lapu , Cordova Cebu chapter added me to list of referees to officiate again in Mabolo, Cebu City , SK Basketball League. It was another blessing for me to be part of officiating list for I would have another extra income added to my pocket .

There were 6 games scheduled and the first game was scheduled at 4:30 pm . In the morning at home , I had a lot of things to do like carpentry , such as making a fence to my house ground for it was already damaged . It was really a hard task for me for my two sons had no plan to help me and they were busy scrolling their cellphone. Time is running out , at exactly 2 pm , yesterday , I stopped working and took 1 hour relax , then took a bath and departed at home at 3:00 pm to fix my buddy referee in the next Barangay Mactan . We arrived at the venue at around 4:10 pm .

People there were so excited to watch good match up . They paid entrance 10 pesos just to watch the games . These annual league was their amusement for the coming Mabolo fiesta this May 24.

The league status is in elimination round and teams were playing hard to reach the quarter finals . We were very lucky for the first two games were forfeited for the players were not arrived exactly during scheduled time. Every team has given the extra time 15 minutes to arrive at venue but players were less than 5 , that is why the committee decided for double forfeit . So, we the referees were happy for we were relaxed for the first 2 scheduled games. Before the third game , we took our dinner to prepare ourselves for the remaining 4 games .

There was a commotion happened during the fifth game. The two players were throwing elbow and punch. We ejected the two players who cause trouble in the game to make the game ran smoothly. Thanks God we controlled and managed the game until the end.

Viewers were shouting specially girls , shouting so loud to cheer their team. Others were disputed to the opposing team . Others were shouting at referees and saying bad words. But we the referees were focusing the game and not entertaining the audiences and pretended that we didn't hear them.

The success of basketball games depends on the officiating and how the game being managed .
