AGRICULTURAL CULTURAL PRACTICES

Cultural practices in the farm are those measures that we take tom ensure the productivity of the crops.

Crop husbandry is also a of the cultural practices because, it involves good good cop husbandry such as weeding,staking,watering,ridging,disease/pest control,mulching,e.t.c.. Proper planing and working or implementation is required of all these cultural practices.

CROP NURSERY

This is an act of initially raising delicate or some permanent crops before transplanting them to main field.
NOTE::Not all crops require nursery. crops like maize,cassava,yam,coco yam and a lot more do not require nursery

REASONS FOR NURSERY

A nursery will ensure a suitable size of sprouted seed so that there will be no wastage. It also affords us to take care of delicate crops.

The size of the seed is another reason for nursery and a typical example is the MUSTARD SEED because of o fits small size,there will lost and wastage if planted directly on the field.

***Ensures proper field establishment
****Ensures greater percentage of seed germination
*****Ensures proper crop establishment
******Reduction in cost of tinning (reduction in number of seed per stand)

The application of fertilizer affects both the physical and chemical properties of the soil so it it highly recommended for good results to be attained.
