Denominational Drama (And How To Avoid It)

I can admit it....

Catholics are laughing at Protestants every now and again!

Maybe artgirl@artgirl can confirm :)

So if you aren't aware, within Christendom there are over 45,000 distinct denominations.

Everything from Catholic to Baptist, to Calvinist to Pentecostal. And about 44,996 others in between.

Come to think of it, maybe even Muslims are laughing at us at times as well...I think they have two 'denominations' only....Maybe our new friend bijoy12@bijoy12 can confirm?

Anywho, there is a reason I'm mentioning all this and it comes from a recent 'heated' debate of sorts within the Kingdom Discord between waytruthlife13@waytruthlife13 bookerman@bookerman and yours truly.

And this will get people of other faiths smirking....

Each of us are from different denominations within the world of Christianity. And because of that, we have different views and opinions on doctrines. Which at first glance, may seem odd because we all read the same bible...But alas, 45,000 opinions have created schism after schism, denomination after denomination...

And after the events of this week, I totally understand why. I'm raising my hand and VERY guilty of pride!!! But I think what bookerman@bookerman has been stressing over the past few months in our Discord anytime a doctrinal debate arises is....

Most of the stuff we as Christians argue about...Isn't salvational.

Now yeah, there are some denominations that preach another gospel, and that can get confusing for sure. But generally, the majority believe, salvation is found through Christ and His sacrifice.

I think if we lead with that, everything else can be discussed with respect and patience. But the kicker is, if we are discussing things to change someone's mind about the doctrines they hold true within their biblical view, it'll end up in a fight.

Now let me say this too, I'm not saying we need to all agree. Far from it. I think we need to remember who we should always be focused on, and let Him and the Holy Spirit do the work.

The thing about truth is, it always comes to the surface. It can be examined, it can be studied, it can be picked apart....But truth always shines. It just won't be you or I that 'discover' it....It'll always be the Holy Spirit guiding us into all truth which is and forever will be....

The Way, The Truth and the Life - Christ Jesus.

I think Christians can agree on that though, with certainty :)
