San Francisco castle
The San Francisco castle, also known as the Egaña castle by the inhabitants of the area, is a ranch house located near the Egaña Station, in the Rauch district, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, which was built by Eugenio Díaz. Velez between 1918 and 1930.
It was one of the largest and most luxurious rural mansions of the time with 77 rooms, 14 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, galleries, patios, carpentry workshop, terrace, gazebo and balconies.
The place keeps the magnificence of the past although it is very vandalized, it is missing the openings and large parts of the roof and its walls are heavily graffitied. You have to be VERY careful if you go up to the upper floors because there are missing floors, which is dangerous. However, if you visit during the day and with caution you can explore the place.
Despite the fact that the place is withdrawn during the weekend, many visitors attend to take tours of the forest that surrounds the place or to make a barbecue in the stoves that are in the place.
It is noteworthy that there are neither sanitary facilities nor a place to buy food or drinks, so it is advisable to be prepared.
