Field Preparation Day: Applying Non-Selective Herbicide on My Rice Farm
Proper land preparation is a yardstick for a successful farming season. It is one very important period of farming that should not be taken for granted, because if we do, we might end up losing a lot at the end of the day.
Land preparation is a farmer's way of fully harnessing the power of the soil before planting. I know it might be stressful sometimes, especially for new lands that have never been cultivated before, but trust me, this part needs a good level of attention if the subsequent parts of the farming period are to be successful in any way.
Applying non selective herbicide on a farm that doesn't have any crop to protect is quite the easiest thing you can think of doing as a farmer, you do not need expertise for this all you need is to get the right measurements that is usually found on the body of the herbicide and have a marking system that you can follow when you are working so that you don't jump any portion in the process.
The water to use doesn't have to be very clean, but still it should be mouldy or full of visible dirt that can block the flow of the water from the tank. Trust me, you wouldn't want to have that experience because it is really exhausting to get the dirt out once they are stuck.
Day one has been visibly tiring, and my back should definitely ache for the next few days because of the size of the tank, and I did that because I believe it will be faster with a bigger tank ๐.
Now I need to wait for the next two weeks before I can start transplanting the rice, and by then the seedlings would have matured enough for transplanting.
