Inside an SSD
INSIDE AN SSD: This is the interior of a modern 2.5 inch SSD. Lots of unused space that was forerly taken up entirely by the old-fashioned spinning disk or "platter" style disks.
Because of this reduction in space needed, in coming years we'll be seeing changes in the shape, size and connectors ("form factor") of standard consumer SSDs. They will be smaller, use less power, and will run faster than ever!
