A stance for both, a lesson for all.
Hello Everyone
Welcome to my blog.
A friend of mine called me and was explaining her predicament, and I could totally relate to her annoyance and frustration.
Her story
She was expecting a call for a job interview, so she tended to carry her phone everywhere she went to.
Because she didn't want history to repeat itself, when she missed an important call because she wasn't with her cellphone.
One evening, she kept her phone in an upper cabinet above where she cooks because that was the only place she could keep the phone in the kitchen and could hear it when it rang.
And the clothes she wore had no pockets.
Yes, a call came in when she was cooking with the pot open the phone, vibrated, and fall inside the pot.
She quickly grabbed the phone, cleaned the little she could, and rushed to the phone repair shop.
They opened, cleaned, and dried the phone.
She came back with the phone working but not perfectly, and then she checked her call log so she could return the call and explain the situation only to see the call was from Opay call centre.
She was so angry.
A message came in later from the company she was expecting the call from to inform her that they tried to reach out to her via call but couldn't, so they sent a message instead.
After all the troubles and having to deal with a malfunctioning phone, she still got a message.
My story
I worked with a company where I had an important deal to close in the evening.
I also needed to fetch water and fill the containers so I could be able to go to work early the next day.
I started fetching the water with my phone in my pocket, incase I get a call in the middle of fetching the water.
I got the call when I was carrying water inside the house, I dropped the water, removed my phone to answer the call only for it to slip and fall inside the bucket of water.
I quickly removed my phone from the bucket of water and rushed to the phone repair shop.
The guy did a great job, he praised me for being smart and acted quickly.
I came back with my phone working perfectly only to check and see that the call that almost spoiled my phone was irrelevant.
There are some situations that could have been easily avoided and prevented if only we hadn't put ourselves under pressure.
There could be minimal occurrence.
This is the end of today's talk ✍️
