Morning frames from Dorćol
For two mornings in a row, I had a reason to wake up early. I was heading to an educational program but somewhere between the beginning of Skadarlija and the streets around Dorćol, the part of Belgrade, I found myself enjoying the city waking up.
As a photography lover, I have always believed that mornings reveal a side of a city that most people miss. Before the traffic, before the noise, there is a softness that only early hours can offer.
Dorćol felt like a different world. Tree-lined streets, the scent of blooming linden trees, which I love so much.
The weather seemed undecided, shifting from light rain to sunshine and back again. But that only added to the atmosphere. Every corner felt like a frame waiting to be captured.
Walking past the beginning of Skadarlija and around the Bitef Theater area, I noticed details I would probably overlook during the day.
Empty benches, covered cafe chairs, beautiful sculptures on the facades and the occasional passerby lost in their own thoughts. Just life unfolding quietly.
Street photography has always fascinated me because it teaches us to appreciate ordinary moments. You don't need spectacular scenes to feel good. Dorćol, with its mix of old and new, rain and sunshine, silence and movement, offered exactly that.
Thank you for reading.
