What Does It Mean To Delegate Steem Power?

If you have a new Steemit account, you might have noticed that there is a number in parentheses below your Steem Power balance that looks like this: (+14.909 STEEM). This represents STEEM that is delegated to you, and it’s one of the coolest features of the Steem platform.

When you delegate Steem Power to someone, you’re basically letting them borrow the influence that it generates. Their upvote will be calculated as if the Steem Power was their own, but they won’t have the ability to power it down or cash it out.

Delegating Steem Power is great because it allows the owner to support other Steem accounts. A great example is the huge Steem Power delegation that Hive account@dtube has, which gives them the ability to hand out big upvotes and help the platform grow.

So now if you hear about delegated Steem Power, you’ll know what it means. 😀
