Hello everybody on Hive and especially the Hive Music Community! My name is @jasperdick and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town, South Africa!

This is Week 6 of the “Retro Music” challenge! The aim of the game is to play a cover of anything from the 1920s to the 1990s, anything that would be considered a bit “Retro” in this day and age, which opens up a world of possibilities!

This week I want to play you one of Bob Dylan’s early original songs from 1963, that has been covered extensively by other artists since then… I am talking about “Blowin’ in the Wind”. This is one of those songs that cemented Bob Dylan’s early reputation as an amazing folky-acoustic protest singer, and why people felt betrayed when he started to branch out and play electric guitar with a full band a little bit later. Nowadays, most Bob Dylan fans recognize that the songs were brilliant either way! As for “The Band” (Bob Dylan’s backing band), I’m not sure a more talented group of people have ever made magic together – they deserved to be called “The Band!” Nevertheless, this early Bob Dylan song is so good that it is magic with just one voice and one guitar…

Esta es una de esas canciones que cimentaron la reputación inicial de Bob Dylan como un increíble cantante folk acústico de protesta, y por qué la gente se sintió traicionada cuando comenzó a diversificarse y tocar la guitarra eléctrica con una banda completa un poco más tarde. ¡Hoy en día, la mayoría de los fanáticos de Bob Dylan reconocen que las canciones fueron brillantes de cualquier manera!
