Wild Projects: Druid Mixed Culture Stout
DRUID
From one of my many local breweries this 2nd batch bottle aged stout has been sitting in the brewery cellar since last January!! Here is the description from their website:
- ABV 8.5% | 500ml bottle. A blend of Red Wine Barrel-Aged Milk Stout and Rye Whiskey Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout aged with Brettanomyces for 9 months before bottling. Notes of German Chocolate Cake with Whiskey Sauce and Dark Cherries.
Don't think you'd like a soured stout? Neither did I at first and my first sip of this in the first batch was a wary one. It grows on you pretty quickly. I'm glad it's a rainy indoor kind of day because this is not something to be out in the yard working with!
It pours thick and dark as expected. Lingers on the pallet and hits you in those jaw clenching spots like a good soured beer should. I absolutely love it. Coming in a 500ml bottle and splitting with the missus leaves me wanting more but isn't that always the case with something delicious?
Thanks again for your time and attention!
