Making a crochet mesh top for the first time.
Hi there everyone it’s me Rhea again and today, I want to share my 2nd challenging project which is making a crochet mesh top for the first time.
Before I started learning crochet, I had a dream about making a top crochet because I truly wanted to wear something that I made for myself. That’s why right now I am learning something a bit different and challenging for me since I am only a beginner, and by the way since y’all know that I had made the rose blanket bouquet last week and I know that y’all liked it and I love the way y’all appreciate my effort and now I am testing out my creativity again and testing my patience for doing something challenging, and now I do really wish you would like this one.
So first before I start I would like to give credits to this amazing YouTuber/vlogger her YouTube channel is Alaysha Rotolo, I do admire her work, the way she speaks and how good she is with tutorials for beginners like me and I also love her work it’s just so neat and clean.
So by the way these are the yarns that I had used for this crochet mesh top.
So first I had measured the size of my bust so that it would be perfect for my size. By the way for the bust I subtracted my size from 10 because I want the back portion to be like a corset like having X shape in the back and then it depends on you how long you want your top because me I want it to be 5 inches tall.
So first I used the blue yarn for the top, I made a slip knot first and then chain until it reached on my preferred size, mine was, I think 22 inches or less.
After chaining, I then made half double crochet all across and then when it reaches the end I made 1 chain and then turn and make another half double crochet across the next stitches and then I repeated the process.
I got tired after making 2 inches lol my back started hurting and my hands were shaking, I guess it’s time to rest lol I suddenly remembered that I was cleaning the entire yard of my auntie’s rest hours for almost 4 hours and spend my rest time with doing crochet.
And until the clock strikes at 6 pm, my work finally reaches 3 inches I can finally assure myself that I am getting there lol.
Minutes passed and I finally got 4 and a half inches, I was so happy and excited not knowing that making the mesh would make a bit more hard to make.
And then finally I got 5 inches, I can finally rest and make the mesh tomorrow morning because I truly want to make top and I wanted it to be done tomorrow morning. By the way for the last touch I cut the yarn and inserted another yarn and made half double crochets to start the mesh stitch.
And I don’t know why I woke up so early maybe my mind was just so excited making the mesh lol. For making the mesh, I inserted another white yarn and tie a knot. And then to make a mesh stitch I made a big/long loop into the yarn, yarn over the top and pull up the 2 loops into the yarn and then make it one more time, I forgot to take a picture of making the mesh because I was too excited making the mesh.
And when it reaches the end I sighed deeply knowing I had to make it again for a couple of times lol. And finally minutes passed I finally got the perfect length for my mesh.
And after making the mesh I stated making the shells into the mesh. It was slightly difficult since it’s hard to see the small loops into the mesh part.
But again I managed it well and made the shells almost perfect.
While crocheting my father handed me a food and I was so happy.
And the shells are done, I can finally make the strap part. So to make the strap part, first I measured first and put a stitch marker in where I wanted my straps to be so that I can it would be easier to find.
I made half double crochets in to the stitches until it reaches the stitch marker and then made a slip stitch into the stitch where the marker is and made 250 chains or more. I know it takes forever but I truly want to finish this project so badly.
After making 250 chains I then started to make slip stitches until it reaches the end or in the strap. And when it reaches I finally made a slip stitch inside and proceeded to make a half double crochets until it reaches into the other strap and then I repeated the process.
And finally the strap is finished I then started to connect the back part with an X style and then hide the yarns.
And now it’s done I then wore it to test if it fits on me and luckily it fits.
Since I don’t want the top to be so boring I added a flower into the side of the top.
And this is what it looks like. I am so happy that I finally made my first ever mesh to. I know it’s difficult but if you had the patience and time to make it I know you can do it.
And that’s all for today’s blog everyone, I really hope you like it thanks for reading my blog everyone, have a nice weekend.
