Mis Maestras del Secretariado/ - My Secretarial Teachers

After high school, I went to study secretarial work at a prestigious institution in Maracaibo, the Electronic Language Center, where all the teachers were English.

I was passionate about the idea of ​​working in an office doing everything related to it, and I also wanted to be able to learn Spanish well since it had many spelling mistakes.

I realized this once when my sister's boyfriend went off to do military service, and we all sent him letters to check on him. To my surprise, he sent me back the letter, telling me to please try to correct those mistakes. At first, I was disappointed, but over time, I realized how important it was to know how to write, especially if I wanted to work in an office writing letters. Over time, I became very grateful.

In the photo are my shorthand teacher, the Spanish teacher, the typing teacher, and the one giving me the diploma is my English teacher; she didn't speak Spanish.

They were excellent teachers. They explained everything very well, we understood everything they taught us, and they were very kind to us. We did calligraphy and grammar lessons, and they made a great effort to make sure we understood everything clearly so we didn't make any spelling mistakes.

The course lasted a year, and in that year I learned everything I should have learned in 10 years of schooling, from primary school to high school. I had wonderful memories today as I walked past the Electronic Language Center, which is still operating.

Después del Bachillerato me fui a estudiar un curso de Secretariado en una prestigiosa institución en Maracaibo, el Centro Electrónico de Idiomas donde todos sus maestros eran Ingleses.

Me apasionaba la idea de trabajar en una oficina haciendo todo lo relacionado con ella, además buscaba poder aprender bien el Castellano ya que tenía muchos errores ortográficos.

Me di cuenta de eso una vez que el novio de mi hermana se fue al Servicio Militar y todos le enviamos cartas para saber cómo estaba y mi sorpresa fue que me devolvió la carta diciéndome que por favor tratara de corregir esos errores. Al principio me decepcionó, pero al tiempo comprendí lo importante que es saber escribir y más si quería trabajar en una oficina haciendo cartas. Con el tiempo se lo agradecí mucho.

En la foto aparecen mi maestra de Taquigrafía, la de Español, la de Mecanografía y la que me da el diploma es mi maestra de Inglés, no hablaba Español.

Fueron unas excelentes profesoras, explicaban muy bien todo, se les entendía todo lo que nos daban y eran muy amorosas con nosotras. Hacíamos caligrafías, gramática de las palabras y se esmeraban mucho en que supiéramos claramente todo para no tener errores ortográficos.

El curso duró un año y en ese año aprendí todo lo que debí aprender en 10 años de estudios desde educación primaria hasta diversificada o Bachillerato. Muy bellos recuerdos tuve hoy cuando pase frente a la sede del Centro Electrónico de Idiomas que todavía está funcionando.
