They'll be flying out soon

One in every four storks in the world lives in Poland. There are about 30,000 to 40,000 pairs here.

They arrive in early spring—March and April—but for the past few years, due to global warming, they’ve been arriving earlier and earlier. This year, the first ones appeared as early as February

They feed mainly on earthworms, frogs, small rodents, insects, and fish. This is precisely the reason for their autumn migrations. It’s not the winter temperatures, but the lack of food. They generally migrate in August, although this year it’s clear they’re already getting ready to leave.

The chicks that hatched this year won't return for another two or three years
