Weekly Task: Agbada bubu gown with Ankara
Hello my cherished people of this Amazing community
I'm more that thrilled to share a post here and today i want to share with you the processes involved in making this Agbada bubu gown with Ankara as requested to be done at work by my Boss.
Weekly tasks has gotten more interesting as the week runs by and it's my 3rd month since i started working and i most recommend doing weekly task as an apprentice because it keeps you on track , learning without hesitations.
By the way, I hope you're all faring well and nice, I'm doing good too.
Let's proceed to the steps and guidelines needed to make this beautiful dresss sitted here
So the following materials were what i used while making the dress
- Ankara 6 yards
- Black Bridal material
- Thread etc
And the followed steps are what led me to the completion of this wear
- i folded my material into two and picked the following measurement
Shoulder divided by 2, 7 inches plus sleeves length 11 since it was going to be a cut together sleeve
My biggest body measurement that is my hips plus 3 inches down
And arm hole of 11 inches
I marked them all on my folded fabric and cut out,
After cutting out, i placed the cut out fabric on my material again and cut out the front with a v neck line and slit it after cutting
This was all with the cutting, i went straight to my machine and began sewing, i first turned my facing for both sides since i wasn't using a lining and then i joined my shoulder
After joining the shoulder, i placed my sewn fabric wide on the floor without the back and front attached to each othee and started folding the agbada.
For the agbada, i marked 3 inches each from the neck line and pleated it by 10 inches , that is five for each sides and made it twice for each side. I went all the way down with the pleats and i got this
After the pleating of Agbada i went on to cut out my black bridal in a straight line of 4 inched breadth and attached it to the dress after which i joined the body and added a rope inside for the snatching which was very necessary
After the whole process, i fitted the dress accompanied with the zara cap i made and this was the outcome
Although i had doubted that this outfit will suit me when we were assigned to do it, i was discouraged because i heard it doesn't suit slim and tall persons but the outcome really surprised me because it looked really amazing on me .
What's your opinion on the dress , I'd love to hear
Thank you anyways, for viewing my post, i really appreciate your support and everything
Byee for now . . . . . . . .
