No EARS

What I realized while I was painting this card is that NONE of the people in the Major Arcana so far, have ears. Very interesting...I have not checked the Minors yet.

They have eyes (to see), but no ears to hear...

What does this mean?

On the one hand, it means that that the way they see the world is the only way. They are closed-minded to anything other than their point of view. This says that they know they are right. Maybe they are.

Here, however, the Lion has ears - so it is definitely deliberate - the Lion has eyes to see and ears to hear, a mouth, a tongue - all 5 senses. Once again, humans are saying that animals are "lower" than "us" - and this is definitely Nephilum influence.

But the woman has no ears. She is his master and it is a male lion - also interesting. The yellow back ground is that of the Will but it is feminine as the Sun is not visible. She is demure, modest, and empathetic - that is Strength - feminine - empathy and that's why it faces to the Left - the feminine. He has his tail between his legs. She is the master of worldly desires. and she is clearly Nature herself - with roses and the Infinity symbol over her head.

She wears the white gown with blue shadows of the Fool's Mountains and the High Priestess, so she is clearly elevated. Red Roses - an alchemical symbol for The Mystery and there are 11 of them. Her eyes are closed to us - but looking down at the Lion - focussed.

The B.O.T.A. Strength card has an indication of an ear... but it shows the arrogance of A E Waite and the Golden Dawn.
