Goliath Beetle Photographs
One of the largest and heaviest insects on Earth, the Goliath Beetle truly lives up to its name. Native to the tropical forests of Africa, these beetles can grow up to 4 inches long and weigh over 3.5 ounces—about the same as a small bird! Despite their size, they can still fly thanks to their strong wings. Their striking patterns of black, white, or brown make them not only powerful but also beautiful.
The Goliath Beetle spends its larval stage eating a protein-rich diet to fuel its massive size, and as adults, they mostly feed on tree sap and fruit. They’re a fascinating reminder of how diverse and extraordinary the insect world can be.
