Experiencing the Pagkaing Panghimagsikan!

The best time and place is when you are together with your family having a healthy conversation and a sumptuous meal.

Yesterday, we decided to just dine out before going home. As early as 5:30 pm, we already search outside city center for a place with good food we can enjoy. Just across this mall at deira, there are a lot of restaurant you could choose from. Be it seafood, chinese, filipino food choices, and healthy juices. For the love of rice and filipino cuisine, we opted to dine at Carenderia ni Tandang Sora. Their interiors are very patriotic and you could see a lot of photos of our national heroes framed on the wall. Being a mom of a two year old kid, it was difficult for me to get a chance to take some photos of the place. My eyes should always be on him most of the time.

For me, soup is always essential in the meal most especially if we have kids. We ordered Sinigang na Hipon (Shrimp Tamarind soup), it is a popular filipino dish. Sinigang has been my favorite because I love its sour taste may is be fish, shrimp, pork or even beef.

Their menu was catchy. As most of my fellow filipino knows, boodle fight, a famous culture that is mostly the common marketing strategies for filipino restaurants. In this restaurant, they named it Pagkain Himagsikan which is good for 5 persons.

Himagsikan is a tagalog word which means revolution. This word is related to the name of the restaurant Tandang Sora. She is one of the famous filipino revolutionary who contributed to our country’s history.

We also picked the Tropang Luzon which costs 200 AED. It comprises of Daing na bangus, crispy fried intestine, fried chicken, fried eggplant, green vegetables, tomato, bagoong, itlog na maalat, unli ice tea and the unli rice.

The food was definitely of good quality with good price. We were 7 adults and 2 kids who enjoyed the dining experience as we used our hands to eat as if we are just in the Philippines.

Every bite seems to take you home.

My son, as observant as he is, used his own hands to enjoy his food instead of using his own spoon and joined the gang. He was so amusing and I was happy to see him eating by himself the soup, rice, fish and chicken.

We should not forget to thank the Lord for every blessing we have each day, the food, the family, good health and for the unconditional love He have for all of us.
