Time [is Wealth]

Magandang buhay💚

I read something profound recently which said we should treat time as our wealth, for it is the most valuable currency we have that doesn't sit in our bank account, the one resource we cannot earn back once it is spent.

The irony is, we protect our time the least and often spend it carelessly. We guard our wallets or purses, but we give away our hours freely. We negotiate over the price of things, but rarely do the same with our schedules. We complain when we are overcharged, yet we allow ourselves to be overbooked by saying yes to requests, favors, etc. We set no boundaries, not realizing we are spending most of our time on other people's priorities.

But when we really think about it, our time is finite, and we should be mindful of how we allocate it. Money lost can be earned back. We can find new opportunities and replace possessions. Time, once lost, is gone and is never coming back.

When we understand and deeply internalize that it is a non-renewable resource, the only finite currency we've got, that each second is a one-way ticket, we begin to treat it with respect. We start protecting it. We learn to set priorities. We make sure we don't waste it. We spend it carefully and invest it in what (or who) matters most.

This is a powerful reminder (to myself as well, because sometimes, I do use my time mindlessly).

Meanwhile, it's the FIL's graduation in their church's program, and only the Farmboy went to accompany him, as fur babies were not allowed. I chose to stay home with our little guy as I didn't like the idea of leaving him alone in the car for hours while we attended the ceremonies. The hubby hesitated, but eventually agreed and drove out early.

And I have set it as my mission to empty the laundry basket today. No more postponing, as it is overflowing already.😁
