Bee Farm [Apiary] Spotted

We have been seeing the beehives somewhere along our way, but it was only yesterday when I had the chance to snap some photos of them. They are not that sharp, though. We took them while the car was running because we couldn't pull over or slow down along the narrow (single lane), uphill road, and other vehicles could come at any moment.

The boxes (some painted, others not, and are in different sizes), were nestled amongst trees, chayote vines, coffee trees and others some 50 meters or so on a hilly area above the road.

When I first glanced at them not so long ago, I thought they were chicken coops, lol! But a closer look revealed I was mistaken. They were boxes built as homes for the bees.

The bee farmer (owner) is clever to have placed (installed) them where a thriving ecosystem already exists. Plenty of crops, flowers, and trees were nearby, which means nectar for the bees, and in return, the buzzing creatures pollinate the plants around.

The farm is like a secret little paradise where bees buzz all day. I think they are more active during the warmer season, so it will be interesting to see how they go about these months where the rains abound.

The sight of them yesterday made me wish we could have the chance to take a peek inside the box in person (we have only seen them in movies). I hoped to meet the owner, and he would allow us to do that. It would be a new experience for us, especially since this bee farm (if I can call it that) was the first we had seen in ages. How fortunate of us, huh!

Anyway, it had been a lovely and fun Friday here in DD. The rain came in the afternoon, but it was sunny in the morning, so we had our fair share of vitamin D. And Mr. P had taken a vacation elsewhere, so we emptied the laundry bag, yay! The weekend is looking great!
