Three Tune Tuesday: Olivia Dean

Hello. Here I am again to share my entry for Three Tune Tuesday. Aside from Olivia Rodrigo, another Olivia I currently stream is Olivia Dean. If you don't know her, she won Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards. She's been an underground singer for a long time. Now, she's already having her breakthrough moment. Her songs are like fresh air in the music industry, and I love how they feel rhythmic. Here are the songs that I love from her recently.

Olivia Dean - Man I Need

"Man I Need" is the third single from her album "The Art of Loving." If you analyze the lyrics, it's about sharing her feelings with a guy. It is a fun song since it feels like I'm listening to an old hit song. Of course, our taste in music just changes as time goes by. And of course, it is a bit culturally shocking that we're returning to the old style of a classic hit. It was commercially successful, but it's sad that it only peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Overall, I love it when I want to listen to a not-that-typical love song.

Olivia Dean - So Easy (Fall In Love)

If I’m not mistaken, this is the single that gave her a breakthrough as an artist. The lyrics in this song are not that deep, though. It's about her persuasion that it's easy to fall in love with her. Lyric-wise, it's well-written, and it's my first time loving the jazz-pop genre. No wonder why the lyric "I'm the perfect mix of Saturday night and the rest of your life" became popular on TikTok. You should listen to that song if you want to feel light. In addition, incorporating different kinds of love in the music video makes it more unique.

Olivia Dean - Dive

Before she released the hit songs mentioned, she released sad breakup songs first. The track reflects her anxiety about being in a relationship. I love this song as it sounds very groovy and sounds like a hit. Unfortunately, it didn't become a hit, but I'm glad that many discovered this song from her. It feels like she's now having her Chappell Roan moment. If you don't know Chappell, she's the one who sang "Pink Pony Club," "Good Luck, Babe!," and "The Subway."

Thank you for reading. I'd love to share my three tunes next Tuesday. Goodbye!
