Make " Manisan" from Salak Fruit

Greeting, happy friends,
This time I will make "manisan"/candied dried and manisan wet. I make manisan/candied salak fruit wet, salak fruit in Indonesia is familiar and easy to find both in traditional market and in modern markets.

Fruit with a black brown color and has brownish black seeds with scaly skin. Many people call it snake fruit which has the latin name Salaca zalaca has a brash-colored fresh.

And this fruit is often found on the Island of Sumatera and on the Island of Java. Salak fruit contains healthy benefits, salak fruit contains beta carotene, besides that salak fruit can funtion as a digestive aid because it contains fiber.

Salak fruit in Indonesia is widely used as process food, ranging from dodol salak, selai salak, to manisan/ candied salak fruit.

How to make manisan salak fruit is quite easy and simple,as for the ingredient to make it.

  • 500 grams of peeled salak fruit
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 red chilies
  • 2 cayenne peppers
  • 100 grams sugar
  • A little shrimp paste if like
  • 1 lime
  • 500 ml of water.

Step to make manisan
Step 1 peel the salak fruit,then cut into pieces according to taste and set a side.

Step 2, puree spices such as red chili,cayenne,brown sugar,salt.

Step 3, boil water,enter the ingredient that have been pureed,mix well, add sugar,stir,add orange juice, stir again until it boils, use low heat while stirring.

Step 4, enter the salak fruit that has been cut into pieces stir well, cook until cooked,then take it out and let it cool. If it's cold,put the manisan/candied salak into a bowl and can be eaten or stored in the refrigerator.
