You are the best (for me!)
Never tell your children that they ARE THE BEST. How come?!
'I am the best' equals 'I am better than others' and makes the child to feel better than others, sometimes look down at them, as a consequence. If I am the best, nobody can be or do better than me. Simple logic, right?! ;)
What parents should say instead is ... you are the best FOR ME!
The addition of 'for me' makes it a whole different compliment. It is a wonderful way of showing love, support and helps building your bambino's self-esteem.
