However, for producers looking for a drum machine, the Virus presents a unique paradigm. Unlike many workstations and grooveboxes, the Virus TI has no drum kits in the traditional sense. It does not use samples. Instead, it relies entirely on its powerful synthesis engine to create percussion.

The Access Virus series, from the original Virus A in 1997 to the final TI2 models, has always been a purist's synthesizer. Its goal is to generate sound in real-time through oscillators, filters, and amplifiers, rather than playing back recordings.
