During the Amelia Island sale (22 may in Florida), RM Sotheby's will offering up this beautiful 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS with a coachwork done by Carrozzeria Scaglietti. Estimated price around $US 350,000, I'm not going to bid on this car to please my banker 😀

History of Ferrari Dino 246

For the Formula Two racing, Ferrari presented in 1966 at the Turin Motor Show, the Dino 206 GT penned by Pininfarina. A prototype was displayed one year before at Paris. The car was named after Enzo Ferrari's late son Alfred Dino Ferrari, the first car of a separate but related marque. The Dino 206 was a success on the track and on the road, first Ferrari manufactured in high numbers.

1969 Ferrari Dino 206 GT sold for $US 495,000 in 2015 through Bonhams

In late 1969, the Dino 246 GT replaced the 206 with a steel's body designed by Scaglietti with an international marketing. The Targa version aka 246 GTS was presented in 1972, and immediate success.

Ferrari produced 2,295 GT and 1,274 Spiders. This model (chassis n° 04284) was built un 1972 with US specification.

Specification

The Ferrari 246 GTS is equipped with a 2.4 litre Dino 246 V6 engine producing 192 hp at 7,600 rpm with a top speed of 235 kmh.

This example was originally finished in Nocciola over beige leather interior. Now it finished in red over black interior with a removable black targa top and Cromodora wheels. Beautiful...
