How does HELIOS look after the printing stopped

5000 tokens burned.

A while back I was writing about the fact that HELIOS had stopped printing coins. At the time is was a useful token where you burned 50 HELIOS for an upvote from helios.voter@helios.voter

However I realized that once it stopped printing new tokens it would get more and more expensive to purchase those tokens that were left. In that regard hiveabbyftp@hiveabbyftp purchased all the "Cheap" tokens available and tergan@tergan bought up a little tranche of them as well.

The end result: The price has gone from roughly 0.17 HIVE per HELIOS to 0.60 HIVE per HELIOS. The price has gone up by more than threefold. Where does it go from here?

Well, there is no magic ball. If helios.voter@helios.voter loses delegation or stops allowing burns? If the biggest whales dump their HELIOS? Then everything falls apart. However when I look at the listings for HELIOS on the hive-engine? Everything was a buy. Not a single sell.

Take a look :

Without HELIOS being printed there isn't much extra out there to be sold.

Limited Supply

Helios is deflationary.

If you look you will see what it looked like when there were tokens to print. Delegators to helios.voter@helios.voter got tokens every day. Now? Nothing.

If you are a top holder you still get a 15% HELIOS distribution daily but that is very small compared to the original delegator 20%. Plus there are a limited number of HELIOS left to print there also. The HELIOS whales are getting the lion share of that.

Plus the HELIOS whales will have to burn fewer of their coins for upvotes. Back a few weeks ago it would cost 50+ HELIOS for a maximum upvote.

Now?

Less than 20 for that same upvote. That bump in HELIOS value really helps stretch the value for those people who hold the coin.

As for hiveabbyftp@hiveabbyftp? The HELIOS were purchased to support the Great Little Dragons community. It isn't operational yet but as HELIOS continues its run the 10,000+ coins that have been stockpiled will ensure that the voter can upvote a lot of posts in the future. Provided the helios.voter@helios.voter account remains stable.

Curation accounts have lost a lot of their value recently with the low price of HIVE but its nice to know a curator account can be called :) I'm looking forward to seeing how things continue in the future.

Overall, I've been bullish on HELIOS for a while. I hope things go as I plan :)

And no, this isn't financial advice. It is more of a heads up to check out the token and see if it is useful for you :)
