Binding A Person To You

I think there are lots of different ways to keep someone coming back to you or interested in you, or attached to you in whichever way you want to see it.
Some people in relationships use emotional abuse, others use physical abuse or threatening thereof – or both. Others try and buy affection with gifts, trips or other forms of economic manipulation.
Others make sure to talk to a person every day so that they embed themselves into this other person's life until it feels weird for them not to be there.
Other than that people are attracted to superficial things like looks and status. Some people stay as long as they can derive some kind of benefit, whether that's the hope career progression or something else.
I mean I could go on but my point is that there are so many ways to bind a person to you. A lot of those ways I think are pretty dubious, but then again I think the whole premise of wanting to bind someone to you is kind of sinister. I'm not talking about wanting people to like you or wanting to be popular – that's different. But trying to act in such a way that someone will not leave you points to some personal issues in my opinion.
