JICAMA #1
Jicama, Mexican yam bean or Mexican turnip, is a large, edible, starchy, tuberous root of a tropical American vine with crisp sweet flesh. Jicama is from Pachyrhizus genus and from the bean family (Fabaceae). Jicama originated in Mexican Peninsula. It is now widely cultivated around the world.
Jicama is either eaten raw or cooked. It is cooked in soups and stir friend dishes. It can be eaten raw in salads, but in some countries, they eat it raw with lemon or lime juice and with condiments like salt, vinegar or shrimp paste. Jicama tastes good. It is also packed with lots of healthy benefits.
