Elftober: Hidden Home

Hey creative friends and draw a day community,

This is the hidden home of the elf that I designed from the previous prompt. Today I worked on the hidden home prompt. It is a carved out tree trunk deep in the snowy part of the forest. I put the boots of the elf outside the door and the shovel he uses to make way when he goes out. I want a cozy home and a night vibe for this elf abode, I used a glowing light hanging from the tree branch outside as well as inside evident through the door and window. I am sure my elf will feel comfortable and at home here.

This is the start of my drawing. A big tree trunk from which a house was formed. It is covered in thick snow and has all the basic parts of a home. One thing that must be added in the details are the pair of elf boots.

This is a winter scene so I already added a dark background so the snow will have a nice contrast as well as the lights and other luminous things I might add later.

The base colors are working well with my chosen dark background. Later I will add some shadows and highlights to fix whatever color harmony issues I may encounter

To make the snow have depths I added shadows to further define the shapes I created as well as the smoothness of the snow.

Final touch up with the glow effect on the lights, door and glass window to give it a cozy warm glow. I smoothen out the shadows on the snow that are too much. There is a hint of snow fall too. I played with correcting the colors here it looks a little warm.
