Checking My Okra Flowers, Watching the Next Harvest Develop, A Quiet Moment in the Garden π±πΌ
Today, while walking around the homestead, I took some time to check on my okra plants and, more specifically, the flowers and developing buds. It is always interesting to slow down and look closely at what is happening in the garden. What may look like an ordinary plant from a distance can tell you so much when you take a closer look.
The okra plants are putting out plenty of flower buds, and some of the flowers are already opening. Seeing this stage of growth is exciting because the flowers are an important part of what comes nextβthe formation of those tender okra pods that eventually make their way into the kitchen.
I also noticed that the plants have been producing new shoots around some of the cut areas. I am keeping a close eye on their overall growth, especially the leaves. Some of the leaves have a whitish appearance, so I will continue observing them to determine whether it is simply dust from the garden or a sign of a problem that needs attention.
For me, homesteading is not only about harvesting food. It is also about paying attention to the small changes that happen every day. A quick walk through the garden can become an opportunity to learn something new about plant growth, flowering, pests, soil, and weather.
For now, I am happy to see my okra flowering and developing. I will keep monitoring the plants and patiently wait for the pods to develop. π±
