Using Whisper for Automatic Subtitles in Kdenlive
Whisper is another speech recognition engine available in Kdenlive. It generally produces more accurate transcriptions, especially for difficult audio, different accents, and noisy recordings.
Like Vosk, you can install Whisper from the options available in Kdenlive's Speech Recognition settings. The software provides links and guidance to help you complete the installation.
Before starting, create a Subtitle Track in your project. Then open Speech Recognition, choose Whisper as the transcription engine, and begin the process. Kdenlive will generate subtitles directly on the subtitle track.
The main trade off is performance. Whisper requires considerably more processing power than Vosk and can take much longer to finish, especially on systems without a powerful graphics card. The installation is also a little more involved, but many users find the improved accuracy worth the extra effort.
