Mapping wrong the current star constellations: the dogma of astrology

  Interesting how many popular beliefs are based on stories that no longer have any logic behind them. One of them is the basis of Astrology: the zodiac star constellations that could influence different months. I am not a professional in the topic, but everything is based on the ancient Greeks and Babylonians who mapped constellations. They saw patterns while observing stars and observed that each month one of these constellations could have its equinox; for example, the Aries equinox would be around Spring. All of that was mapped 2000 years ago. But they didn't know something, and current astrology "thinkers" also don't know much about one important physical event: The Axial precession.

  Earth, as you probably all know, spins on its own axis (what we call days), and also around the sun (what we call years). But our planet's spin isn't perfect, and it behaves like a spinning top; it wobbles, so the spin isn't always the same. Because of that reason if the constellations that we see nowadays in the equinox every month aren't the same that Babylonians observed thousands of years ago.

  So now that I learned that, if someone learns my birthdate, which is considered in the Western Zodiac as Gemini, in reality, during my birth the equinox was in Taurus. So If they bring what they say, " You look like a Gemini person it matches exactly; I would say: "Really? But actually the equinox was in Taurus when I was born."

  The 12 zodiac constellations are so weird that nobody knows that, but there is a 13th constellation between Scorpio and Sagittarius that was just excluded from the zodiac: called Ophiuchus. Nowadays, the equinox of Ophiuchus is between November 30th and December 21st. So everybody who was born during this year for the last few decades had this constellation in the equinox, which isn't really a Zodiac Constellation. Weird right?

  Anyways, this is just a bit of reality and finding more logic that makes the stories behind the influence of the zodiac on us a bit more nonsensical. People who have their behaviour mapped by stars instead of genes and how they grew up in a society is just to put some guilt in something that is far away from us. At least the mythology is fun and cool to watch anime like Saint Seiya based on that.

  Interessante como muitas crenças populares são baseadas em histórias que já não possuem mais nenhuma lógica por trás delas. Uma delas é a base da Astrologia: as constelações do zodíaco que poderiam influenciar diferentes meses. Não sou um profissional no assunto, mas tudo isso é baseado nos antigos gregos e babilônios que mapearam as constelações. Eles viam padrões enquanto observavam as estrelas e perceberam que, a cada mês, uma dessas constelações poderia ter seu equinócio; por exemplo, o equinócio de Áries seria por volta da Primavera. Tudo isso foi mapeado há 2000 anos. Mas eles não sabiam de uma coisa, e os "pensadores" da astrologia atual também não sabem muito sobre um importante evento físico: a precessão axial.

  A Terra, como vocês provavelmente já sabem, gira em torno do seu próprio eixo (o que chamamos de dias), e também ao redor do Sol (o que chamamos de anos). Mas a rotação do nosso planeta não é perfeita, e ela se comporta como um pião; ela oscila, então sua rotação nem sempre é a mesma. Por esse motivo, as constelações que vemos atualmente no equinócio de cada mês não são as mesmas que os babilônios observavam milhares de anos atrás.

  Então, agora que aprendi isso, se alguém descobrir minha data de nascimento, que é considerada no Zodíaco Ocidental como Gêmeos, na realidade, durante o meu nascimento o equinócio estava em Touro. Então, se vierem com aquilo de dizer: "Você parece exatamente uma pessoa de Gêmeos", eu responderia: "Sério? Mas, na verdade, o equinócio estava em Touro quando eu nasci."

  As 12 constelações do zodíaco são tão estranhas que quase ninguém sabe que existe uma 13ª constelação entre Escorpião e Sagitário que simplesmente foi excluída do zodíaco: chamada Ofiúco. Atualmente, o equinócio de Ofiúco ocorre entre 30 de novembro e 21 de dezembro. Então, todas as pessoas que nasceram nesse período durante as últimas décadas tiveram essa constelação no equinócio, que na verdade nem faz parte das Constelações do Zodíaco. Estranho, não é?

  De qualquer forma, isso é apenas um pouco da realidade e da busca por mais lógica, o que torna as histórias por trás da influência do zodíaco sobre nós um pouco mais sem sentido. Pessoas que têm seu comportamento mapeado pelas estrelas em vez dos genes e da forma como cresceram em uma sociedade estão apenas colocando a culpa em algo que está muito distante de nós. Pelo menos a mitologia é divertida e é legal assistir a animes como Cavaleiros do Zodíaco baseados nisso.
