Photographing handicraft products [ENG/ESP]
I am writing this post to share with you a photo session of handicraft products made by my wife. Some years ago, she had a physical store, where she sold and made this kind of articles; of course she learned how to make them and nowadays, she makes her own accessories.
Este post lo realizo para compartirles una sesión de fotografías a productos de artesanía hechos por mi esposa. Hace algunos años, ella tenía una tienda física, dónde vendía y fabricaba este tipo de artículos; por supuesto que aprendió a hacerlos y actualmente, ella misma se fabrica sus accesorios.
The photograph was taken with my Nikon D3300 camera, and the lens I used was the Nikon 18-105mm f4. 5-5.6. The lighting was natural. In my house I have a fairly large glass door facing the patio, and the light provided by a cloudy day is simply perfect for this type of photography.
La fotografía las tomé con mi cámara Nikon D3300, y el lente que utilicé fue el nikon 18-105mm f4. 5-5.6. La iluminación fue natural. En mi casa tengo una puerta de vidrio bastante grande que da hacia el patio, y la luz que brinda un día nublado es sencillamente perfecta para este tipo de fotografías.
I used a black adjustable chair as a base, because its surface is reflective and that was precisely the effect I wanted to obtain. This chair also has a concave shape in the part where people sit and right there I place the product well accommodated.
Utilicé como base una silla ajustable color negro, porque su superficie es reflectiva y era precisamente el efecto que quería obtener. Esta silla también tiene una forma cóncava en la parte donde las personas se sientan y justo allí coloco el producto bien acomodado.
Most of the photographs were taken in aperture priority mode, which I set at f7.1 to have good focus on the plane I wanted, and the ISO sensor sensitivity is set at 3200. After several tests I decided to keep the focus in manual mode, precisely to adjust to the plane I wanted.
La mayor parte de las fotografías fueron con modalidad prioridad apertura, ésta la ajusté a f7.1 para tener buen enfoque en el plano que quería, y la sensibilidad del sensor ISO está seteada en 3200. Luego de diversas pruebas decidí mantener el enfoque de forma manual, precisamente para ajustarme al plano que yo quisiera.
On this occasion I really wanted all the photos with a black background so I didn't use another one. In other occasions I simply place a page of white bond paper on the chair to obtain a white matte background, and the results are excellent, after all it all depends on good lighting and good composition.
En esta oportunidad realmente quería todas las fotos con fondo negro y por eso no utilicé otro. En otras ocasiones simplemente le coloco una página papel Bond blanco a la silla para obtener un fondo mate color blanco, y los resultados son excelentes, al fin y al cabo todo depende de una buena iluminación y de una buena composición.
I hope you like the examples I uploaded to this post. I really get distracted a lot when I take pictures and I try to do it in a fun and enjoyable way.
