Hi,

My name is Gregory, from Suriname, South-America.
I have a passion for Finance & Investing. Especially, coming from a country where there isn't a free-flow of capital, I've come to appreciate the ways that we take the western world for granted.

• We have no free currency market, as it is heavily controlled by government and the central bank. That leads to a large shadow economy and rent-seeking.
• We have no free stock market, as stockholders are mostly "insiders" who refuse to sell (and thus give up control), and is "allegedly" a haven for tax-fraud.
• We have a horribly inefficient government which incentivizes actually smart people to either participate in the corruption or leave the country.
• That government exerts massive controls over the local banks, leading investors to protect their wealth by, en masse, buying real-estate. That leads to an inflated housing market.

By the way...I'm not blaming any particular individuals for this problem, as I would probably not be able to resist the temptation to participate in that corruption if I had that same chance. It's hard to stand up for your principles when there's millions of dollars just waiting for you.
This is a system, and the system needs to change.

All of the above examples are very easily solved by implementing a free-market system of capital.
I want to help people understand that there's more to Finance than just "saving at a bank". There's more to Investing than just "buying real-estate".

I've pursued my passion got a degree in Technical Analysis from the International Federation of Technical Analysis. I'm actively trading the markets using mechanical systems and I want to help others. The goal is to end up working get a MiF degree, work in an institutional fund, and then return to Suriname to set up a Hedge Fund.

Hedge Funds are beautiful mechanisms for allocating capital to those that (they believe) deserve it.
I cannot change the system, but I can do what I can to help others change their own perspectives.
