In God We Rust

I took River down to the river today. Mostly because he likes to swim, but partly because I wanted to see how the Saskatoon berries were doing.

It was almost instant. That feeling of sadness.

You know the feeling, probably. When you are so excited for a time of year to happen and then when it is there, it is very disappointing.

I don't know if you can see it yet. I notice it from a distance but I know what I'm looking at. This photo is not in focus but it is close enough because I only took three.

What you're looking at is juniper saskatoon berry rust and it is pretty gross. It makes the fruit inedible. I don't think it will hurt you, just makes it gross.

I'm going to check some different locations and see how bad it is elsewhere. Maybe we will luck out and it won't have spread too far.
