Monthly meme dump!
About 6 years ago or so, right around the time that the social media scene was dominated by Trump politics, I decided to bow out of the social media game. I still have a Facebook and Instagram account but I have not posted or commented on either for all of that time. Guess what? My life is a lot more rewarding because of this. I feel as though social media is a cancer on society and it just rots your brain and diminishes your actual social capabilities. I see no redeeming qualities of social media and that is why I have almost nothing to do with it anymore.
Why keep the accounts at all then? Well some of my friends and especially my older relatives do not communicate by any other means. I tried to move them over to Signal or Telegram but while that is easy for you and I, it is daunting for a lot of people. Therefore I keep my social media but don't use them for the most part.
Instead, when I have some downtime such as needing to wait in line for a flight or some other appointment, I switch on 9Gag, which is still a bastion for political propaganda but if you are on there for a bit you can organize your tags and block any topic you want. There are some a-holes that try to circumvent this system in order to spam you with political propaganda but the community downvotes anyone that misuses tags to the point where they will never be seen anyway. I like that aspect of the site even though admittedly there are a lot of jerks and trolls there.
So the point is, that now when I have downtime instead of arguing with a stranger in the comments of something that doesn't even affect my life in any way I now look at memes and on occasion, I will find some winners.
Let's see what you think and if you have any memes to share back, that is always appreciated.
When I was in high school, I stared to listen to really hard metal and I still really enjoy it to this day. I have met several hard metal bands and was surprised to find out that they really don't make much money even though they are internationally known. It's so niche that it is very unlikely that you are going to make a ton of money. These people are more down to earth though because they write all their own stuff and are more humble and happy to meet the fans.
I spend most of my life being completely oblivious to what is going on in the world because I rarely read any news. This is the kind of news that I enjoy seeing. I have never seen one of these guys but I really hope to be able to in the future. A Nadi-sized hippo. What could be cuter?
I don't care much for football or really any other sports but the World Cup was all the rage here in Vietnam just like it was everywhere else and I went to go see a couple of Norway games with my Norwegian friends. It was really special to see how enthusiastic they became because unlike some of the other countries, they didn't really expect to do well. I also liked it that when they were eliminated their fans didn't turn on the team like many of the others did. Instead, they got a heroes welcome upon their return to Norway. That's the way it really should be.
I have been writing a bit lately about how I am kind of falling out with drinking all the time and this is true. However, I do still "throw down" every now and then but when I do it is almost always during the day and ONLY during the day. When it gets time to have dinner I disappear and go home and eat and drink a lot of water instead of sitting around a pool table pounding beers because: reasons.
If anyone asks me to meet them at a pub at 9 my response will be "at night?"
I don't know exactly when demotivational posters became popular but I just love them. We all know that one person that has these trite quotes framed in their house like the famous "Live Love Laugh" and what not. I prefer these, because they are funny. I guess that covers the "laugh" portion of things.
I've spent most of my life being extremely extroverted but as I get older I have found that is changing. When I wake up in the morning and check my phone I am actually quite pleased to find that nobody contacted me. It's not that I don't have friends, I have a lot of them, I just don't participate in the meaningless banter that a lot of people do. Does that make me anti-social? I don't think so but I also don't care at all what anyone thinks about that.
This meme doesn't really apply to me because I don't really go to the gym very often. However, there is a special bond that brings metal fans together to the point where if someone is listening to metal and you also like metal there is a good chance that you and that person are going to get along very well. There was a time in the past where I owned a business and it wasn't very busy so me and a fellow metal fan just started playing metal on my house system. Next thing we know a large group of metal fans who just happened to be walking nearby heard that we were playing Pantera, and they had to go and see what sort of a place would play something like that. The small bar was soon quite busy all with people discussing metal and clamoring for who was going to get to play the next song.
It really brings people together.
I'll end this thing as I always have in the past, not with a meme, but with an adorable picture of Nadi. She really enjoys sitting outside of my apartment building on this cement table to just see all the people walking by. I think it is one of her favorite things. She is safe in her elevated position and normally some people will come by to say hello. I love that she would never jump down from there without permission. Half of the time she will not jump down even if she does have permission.
Good doggy
I hope you enjoyed those. If you have any memes to share back I always enjoy a good meme!
