EU Roaming
Mobile subscribers in the EU have reason to celebrate. The international organization has established “roam like at home” rules which mean that if you have a EU SIM card and travel to another EU country you can use it just like you do at home. You pay the same rates for calls, texts, and even data! It seems too good to be true.
There is a fair use policy in play that is designed to protect consumers. What this all means are that the days of coming back from your foreign holiday with a $30,000 data roaming debt are a thing of the past. Within the EU at least.
We are using more data than ever before. The EU’s roam like a home solution is definitely a step in the right direction. However, not all of us own EU SIM cards and even more of us travel outside of the EU. What solution is there for us?
Global Wasp is a project that allows users to sell unused data to other users who are in need of it. You can take advantage of this service while traveling or even when you’ve just run out of data for the month. It’s a way to buy data for less than what providers charge and an opportunity to make money from selling something you’ve already purchased but will just be throwing away otherwise. There is Internet, there is Global Wasp.
