A Night of Free Whisky and Wine - My Actifit Report Card: April 13 2026

Last night I had the chance to sample complimentary whisky and wine at a luxury hotel in Central Jakarta. Naturally, I showed up, no hesitation whatsoever.

The event was incredibly lively and impressively well-organized. I’ve hosted a few wine tastings myself in the past, but on a much smaller scale. This one was on an entirely different level, spanning two floors dedicated to the experience.

The third floor was reserved for whisky, while the second floor featured wine. I started on the third floor, eager to try several labels from Scotland, as well as a few from Japan. Most of the whiskies leaned toward smoky and spicy profiles, though there were plenty of sweeter options as well. I enjoyed them all, but my favorite was the Japanese selection, mild, yet still retaining the distinctive character I’d come to expect from the other whiskies I had sampled.

After indulging on the third floor, we made our way down to the second. Unfortunately, I had already had a bit too much by then, so my memory of what I tried there is rather hazy. My wife mentioned that we did sample a couple of sake varieties, but honestly, I can barely recall anything at that point.

All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable event. A bit too crowded and noisy, perhaps, but free without feeling cheap. I liked it a lot.
