Made in Germany still No. 1?

A useless label?

The label "Made in Germany" used to be a proof that a product is good and reliable - it was originally introduced in the UK to mark foreign products more obviously. That time it was to protect UK products from imitations by other nations (especially Germany) that were imported to the UK. It was in the 20th century that Germany did successfully leverage the Made in Germany tag as a brand synonymous of product reliability and quality.

Do you buy products because of that tag?

Even Germany struggles with several scandals and an education that lacks a lot these days I am surprised the Products made in Germany still enjoy the highest reputation among consumers worldwide (according to Forbes and Statista). Germany's reputation as a producer of top-quality products did not suffer from the Volkswagen scandal and still has the highest score (100), beating Switzerland and Sweden.
