Client smiles and live coding: A good thursday [EN/FR]

It's Thursday but I already feel like it's the weekend. The energy is there, and honestly, it feels good. The last few weeks have been a bit complicated, a few days in tunnel mode. But all of this is cyclical, I know that, so I'm trying to make the most of it while it's here.

On the work side, yesterday was a great day.

A client's website is about to launch. We have 2-3 details left to sort out, then we're off. I had a video call with them yesterday afternoon and they were really happy with the result. That moment when the client smiles at their screen... it's probably the most satisfying thing in this job, because you know you got it right.

On the personal side, yesterday evening, before going to have dinner at my parents' place, I got back into Strudel.

To give a bit of context, a few months ago I launched a YouTube channel (Vornek) and tried making techno on G-Stomper. The result for two beginner sessions was decent. But I quickly stopped, for lack of time and momentum.

Then at Christmas, I came across Strudel. It's a live coding musical environment that runs directly in the browser, no installation needed. You write code in real time, the music changes instantly. Free, open-source, accessible to beginners and experienced users alike.

During our trip to Lyon, I had documented myself on it, a little inspired by the holiday atmosphere. When I got back, I dropped it because the learning curve is steep, and time was short.

But now, I'm starting again, differently. No abstract documentation this time and no attempt to make a HIT. One long video, one person explaining the basics, and I apply directly.

Nothing sounds the way I want yet, but I'm starting to understand the logic of the tool. And above all, I'm starting to understand how you need to work with Strudel. And that's exactly what matters at the beginning.

It feels good to have an activity that isn't work. Something without a deadline, without a client, without any stakes. Just exploration and creativity.

Maybe in a few weeks, new videos will appear on the channel. Who knows.

On est jeudi mais j'ai déjà l'impression d'être en weekend. L'énergie est là, et franchement, ça fait du bien. Les dernières semaines ont été un peu compliquées, quelques jours en mode tunnel. Mais tout ça est cyclique, je le sais, alors j'essaie d'en profiter pendant que c'est là.

Mais là, je recommence, différemment. Pas de documentation abstraite cette fois et pas de tentative de faire un HIT. Une longue vidéo, une personne qui explique les bases, et j'applique directement.

Rien ne sonne encore comme je veux, mais je commence à comprendre la logique de l'outil. Et surtout, je commence à comprendre comment il faut travailler avec Srudel. Et c'est exactement ça qui compte au début.

Ça fait du bien d'avoir une activité qui n'est pas du travail. Quelque chose sans deadline, sans client, sans enjeu. Juste de l'exploration et de la créativité.

Peut-être que dans quelques semaines, de nouvelles vidéos apparaîtront sur la chaîne. Qui sait.
