Jumanji || The theme of second chances
Hello CineTv community. I must say, I’m very excited to make my first ever entry in this community and I hope you all will see more of me.
So today I will be reviewing one of my all time favorite sequel, Jumanji. Jumanji is an adventurous/ comedy movie that centers around four teenagers who encounter a magical video game that draws them into it’s world of adventures centered in a jungle called Jumanji. The franchise staring Dwayne Johnson, Alex wolf, Karen Gillian, Bobby Cannavale etc, is a movie with 2 parts. Where we have Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019). Although there was a movie on Jumanji released in 1995 staring Robin William. My focus however, is on the newer Jumanji 1&2 and I want to delve into an expect that caught my attention, the life bars.
After watching the movies, as much as I was fascinated by the theme, setting and all, there was however two questions that kept ringing in my head.
• Would people act differently if they knew how much time they had left ?
• How would life be if we had three chances?
Would people act differently if they know how much time they had left ?
In Jumanji: welcome to the jungle. The player/cast all had tattoos on their hands which were their life bars. This was how they knew at what point their life was at the verge of ending. When they realize that every bar gone meant they had a higher chance of dying, we noticed how conscious they become. Spending each and every moment like they had something to loose.
It made me wonder, what if people had such bars in real life and their knew when death was closer, wouldn’t they leverage on it and make every moment count? Wouldn’t they leave life better? Making sure that a day doesn’t go back without reaching out for that dream they always told themselves “don’t worry tomorrow I will do it”.
How would life be if we had three chances?
Secondly, how would life be if we had 3 chance. Three may sound a little much how about a second chance. In the movie I noticed the way the characters made decisions that ended badly but they had a second chance to redo it. Sometimes we make reckless decisions in life and wish we had a do over, a second chance to redo it. And sometimes it might not even be the thing we did we want to try again it might be the thing we didn’t do. It can also be applicable to forgiveness, sometimes we have to not just forgive others and let them have a second shot at it, but we must learn to forgive ourselves. Just the thought of having a second chance is one of the themes of this movie I love so much.
Basically the story plot was a magnificent one that we can learn a lot and apply to our real life.
My own two lesson were
- The best time to Reach out for your dreams is now , no procrastination
- Everyone deserves a Second chance
In a nutshell, the movie is one of a kind thriller and I can’t wait for part three. shout out to Matt Tolmach and William Teitler. And a bigger shoutout to the pioneer(s) of this wonderful community.
